Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care





Donuts might not be the very best thing for your waistline but currently, continue to be on trend. You can, however, enjoy homemade apple donut soaps without worry and reap the natural benefits of apple from it. These DIY donut soaps are naturally sugar-free and made with apple powder to exfoliate and rejuvenate skin. In addition to that, this homemade soap recipe contains moisture-rich shea oil and kokum butter. This apple donut soap is a must-have for your morning skincare routine.
Apples are naturally rich in malic acid specifically. It is used in skin care products to reduce visible signs of aging. Malic acid exfoliates skin to remove dead skin cells, promote skin hydration and helps keep your skin clear and acne free. This recipe also contains French green clay. French green clay not only gives this soap a natural color, but also helps to tone and detox your skin. It is rich in nutrients and adds extra creaminess to the lather.
This soap does not strip your skin of its natural oil as dry skin is commonly associated with skin aging, it is highly recommended for people who want to rejuvenate their aging skin. Here’s how to make apple donut soaps yourself -:

Ingredients :

  • 2 tablespoons of apple powder
  • 1 tablespoon French green clay
  • 1 oz. donut or apple fragrance oil
  • 1 teaspoon alpine green mica (optional)
  • 8 oz. castor oil (carrier oil)
  • 6 oz. kokum butter
  • 3 oz. refined coconut oil (carrier oil)
  • 4 oz. pomace olive oil (carrier oil)
  • 4 oz. shea nut oil (carrier oil)
  • 6 oz. safflower oil (carrier oil)
  • 15 oz. lye/sodium hydroxide
  • 8 fl. oz. distilled water

Method :

  1. Measure out the distilled water into a heat safe container and then pour lye into the container of water.
  2. Mix all of it until the lye has dissolved. Set aside.
  3. In a separate heat safe container add the carrier oils and kokum butter and mix well. Heat this mixture till it melts and then remove it from the heat and set aside to cool.
  4. When both the lye-water and soap making oils have cooled to around 90-95 degrees F, you’re ready to make soap.
  5. Start by adding apple powder, clay and mica to the oils. Mix until powders evenly distribute throughout the oils.
  6. Then carefully pour the lye-water into this mixture. Mix until the soap reaches a light trace.
  7. Add the fragrance oil and mix until the fragrance oil is fully incorporated into the soap batter.
  8. Once the soap has reached a light to medium trace, pour the soap into a donut silicone mould.
  9. Cover the mould with a plastic cling wrap or parchment paper and set aside undisturbed in a safe location. The homemade apple donut should be ready to be unmoulded 36-48 hours later.
  10. Once removed from the mould, allow soaps to cure for 4 weeks. After they have cured, you can add the melt and pour soap ‘icing’ in any colour you like.
Caution: Wear proper eye protection, long-sleeved clothing and gloves. Check containers and make sure they’re heatproof. Do not use aluminium utensils, use stainless steel/ tempered glass.
This homemade soap can be used on a daily basis for best results. It cleans your skin by exfoliating it and does not make it too dry. It moisturizes and protects your skin which adds to its anti-aging properties. It makes your skin look fresher and makes it healthier.
